Hill path with glimpses of the sea

San Lorenzo – Region Arene – Plains of Costarainera – Region Ciapin (hill)

Pretty hill path on paths and narrow tracks with beautiful views of the sea, characterized by some steep climbs; the first part is not very popular (length: 3 km, round-trip time: 1h.)

Departure: from the centre of San Lorenzo Al Mare, province of Imperia Liguria.
Itinerary: leave San Lorenzo Al Mare, the province of Imperia Liguria, along the Via Aurelia towards the west (towards Sanremo), pass the "Il Paperotto" shop and the next purple house, climb up the steep steps of Via Petachin that higher up becomes a path

When you reach the top of the hill, after a flat stretch, you go down along the asphalted road, skirting the high stone wall and ignoring the paved road that climbs to the right (*).

Get off to the end of the Arene Region, arriving at the Piani di Costarainera at the bus stop on the Via Aurelia (shortly after the Pharmacy)

Go immediately to the right, always following the main road that goes into Piani di Costarainera (also called Piani Paorelli). At the large playground, turn left, pass a second smaller playground and continue along the main road that after a wide flat curve still rises up to cross, at an obvious yellow house, the road that from Ciapin Region leads to Cipressa.

Turn left and shortly you will reach the Ciapin region

Possible variants: (*) the aforementioned paved road would allow you to reach the wide hairpin bend in the middle of the SP47 provincial road, from which you could continue to Costarainera or San Lorenzo, connecting to the it180 itinerary..

Possible continuations: possible return to San Lorenzo via the it150 itinerary, or continuation towards Cipressa along the route it140..
